The 53rd celebration of Cameroon’s National Unity Day was marked with grandeur, showcasing the country’s military prowess and unity. The event took place on May 20, 2025, at 20th May Boulevard in Yaoundé, in the presence of the President of the Republic, Paul Biya, along with other government officials.

This year’s edition, themed “Army and Nation for a Cameroon turned towards a peace and prosperity” featured a grand military parade, displaying various security agencies and highlighting the country’s defense capabilities and national unity.

The Nigerian Armed Forces opened the parade, demonstrating organization and discipline. Their troops marched in formation, reflecting their rigorous training and commitment to national defense. Their presence set a high standard for the subsequent groups, reinforcing the importance of unity in military operations.

Following them, the Army’s principal music ensemble provided an atmospheric backdrop to the event. The military band played patriotic anthems, enriching the celebration and highlighting the essential role of music in fostering national identity.

The Troup Commander, Eba Eba Bede Benoît, led the parade, guiding various contingents as they showcased their skills. His leadership was evident in the troops’ synchronized movements, underscoring the discipline and structure of the military.

The Presidential Guards marched next in formal attire, symbolizing their role in protecting the President and illustrating the strong connection between the military and the government. The National Gendarmerie followed, emphasizing their responsibility for maintaining law and order. Their synchronized march reflected their unwavering commitment to public safety and national security.

The Land Army demonstrated its defense capabilities, highlighting its preparedness to safeguard national security. The Air Force also made a striking entrance, displaying its expertise in aerial operations.

The Marine Contingent showcased its responsibilities in maritime security through its march and attire, emphasizing its role in protecting Cameroon’s coastal regions. The Fire Brigade participated as well, reflecting its crucial involvement in emergency response and management while reminding spectators of the importance of national preparedness.

Additionally, retired military personnel were honored during the parade, recognizing their years of service and the ongoing link between current and former members of the armed forces. The National Police Force followed, demonstrating its essential role in maintaining peace and order.

The High National School of Police was represented, reinforcing the significance of training in law enforcement. Their participation highlighted the necessity of well-prepared officers in upholding justice.

The National Security and Prison Administration exhibited its responsibilities in public safety and rehabilitation, addressing external threats and ensuring internal stability. Finally, the Customs Administration concluded the parade, emphasizing its role in trade regulation and economic integrity, underscoring the importance of border security and lawful commercial practices.
